I am not much into colourful furniture but I do love this red Eames chair in the picture above (which I found on Bolig Magasinet).

Modernica is a great source for vintage Eames furniture. All chairs in the image above are from Modernica. You can build your own fiberglass chair on their website.

Making hand carved stamps is a fun project for a rainy day! You can find a great tutorial here.

I’m loving this! Pick up Wood by Belgium designer Alain Berteau is a simple hanger hook that requires you to take a walk in the woods and pick up a fallen branch to complete the object and turn it into a hanger. The project was designed for the brussels based non-profit organisation Les Petits Riens, which provides social reinsertion via the collecting and selling of second-hand clothes and used furniture.

Loving vintage pieces at Etsy shop Persephone Vintage.

I’m loving these purple gladiolas in our living room. They brighten up the entire space! The vase is designed by Hella Jongerius for IKEA.

I love this idea from Sweet Paul! Create your own Delft Blue vase by taking a photo of an old delft vase and print the photo out on lazertran photo paper. You then cut out the motif and placed it in water for 10 sec. It then becomes a decal that you can transfer to a simple modern white vase. Fun & easy!

Good news: Polaroid is not completely gone! Urban Outfitters has partnered with The Impossible Project to support their mission to restart and reinvent instant film photography. When Polaroid ended production of Instant Film in 2008, The Impossible Project bought all the machinery and equipment at Polaroid’s Dutch factory where the instant films were made. They aim to re-start production of analog instant film for vintage Polaroid cameras in 2010.

This year, Urban Outfitters will present a limited edition of 700 hand-numbered deadstock Polaroid camera kits. This edition will include one pack of deadstock Polaroid Instant Film and one of the most sought after analog instant cameras: the Polaroid One600 classic, the last Polaroid camera ever produced. Urban Outfitters will also offer additional deadstock original Polaroid Type 779 Instant Film saved from the last production runs made at the last Polaroid factory in Enschede, The Netherlands. (Film will retail at $24 per pack and camera kits at $180 each.)

Another inspiration wall: this one is from Jen from Simply Photo. Jen has been drawn to shades of blue lately, and also the outdoors.

Online shop Volksfaden has the most beautiful fabrics in their collection. The fabrics from the Mod Green Pod collection are 100% organic cotton canvas, designed and printed in the USA using non-toxic pigments. They are suitable for covering your favorite worn out chairs, for hip new cushions, for bean bags that will outlast the “throws” of childhood, for a sheer indestructable tote bag and for many other home/life accessorizing projects.

The lovely Linda from Volksfaden has kindly offer to give away 2 meters of Aspire Peppercorn (the beautiful grey fabric in the top right corner) to a reader of The Style Files. Just leave a comment with your name and the country you are from and I will draw a lucky winner on 26th August.

When I came across this beautiful house, named La Petite Bastide, in Dutch magazine VT Wonen, I was happy to hear that it is for rent. The renovated barn, located in the middle of the Provence, makes an excellent holiday destination!

The owners Bruno & Michele, passionately interested in architecture and the art of living, have restored this old house in a spirit of simplicity, paying particular attention to the notions of space, calm and light and using only pure natural materials: stone, lime, concrete, wood and linen. The 36 acre large estate of olive groves and vineyards have been planted with cyprus, figs and pines, offering wide views of the Luberon mountain.

Old builing materials have been used to maintain the authentic character of the house. All furniture and accessories have been sourced from shops and flea markets nearby.

For more information about rates and reservations, you can visit La Petite Bastide’s website.
