wood & black

cathrineaarsland.jpg

Lately I have been drawn to darker colors, which definitely has something to do with the weather. I love the combination of black (or dark grey) with wood. These images show that this is such a beautiful combination, especially in winter time.

magical light

souq1.jpg

The beautiful copper pendant lights are back in stock! The popular Filigrain pendant is now available in larger sizes. We also added some beautiful new designs such as the Beldi pendant and the Souq pendant to our collection.

souq2.jpg

These pendants are all handmade in Egypt. Traditional techniques and craftsmanship are combined with a modern design. The hand hammered brass lamps are silver plated and then drilled with delicate patterns. The little holes give the most gorgeous light effect on walls and ceiling.

But also during day light the Egyptian pendant is an eye-catcher, alone or grouped together.

a splash of fall

FALLCOTTAGE1.jpg

This lovely hundred year old farm house in northern Michigan, United States, has been decorated in fall colors. An old wooden apple basket is stuffed with bittersweet vine and serves as a centerpiece on the kitchen table.

exposed walls

I love a beautiful exposed wall. These brick walls give an industrial character to a space. Here some example of an exposed wall in a kitchen, living room and even a bathroom.

fashion friday: all for children collection

hm1.jpg

The H&M All for Children collection is now available! All for Children is a unique collaboration between H&M and UNICEF. Together they work to protect the rights of some of the poorest children in the world. They for example work in the cotton producing areas of Tamil Nadu India, one of the country’s largest cotton-producing states, and give children access to education. 25% of all sales from the All for Children collection will go directly to support Unicef’s projects. This collection is also available from Little Fashion Gallery (world wide shipping).

I made sure to order some products before they are sold out: the scarf, hat and the play house are on their way to our home!

H&M describe their ‘All for Children’ collection as “full of playful and timeless pieces which parents as well as their kids will love. The collection has the subtly of detail and design attention you’d expect from a full fashion collection, and always made with the child in mind.”

moody hues

darkhues11.jpg

Today some dark colored interiors. I think the dark hues fit the wet and gloomy weather here in The Netherlands. I like these images but I do prefer a bit of color here and there. How do you feel about using darker colors in your home?
