Cult coffee company Campos has opened their third flagship Sydney store in Dulwich Hill late last year. Besides serving good coffee this popular cafe also provide light lunch items including sandwiches, baguettes and sausage rolls. All items are made and supplied from their own bakery. AN ELEGANT OLD TOWNHOUSE IN THE CITY OF LONDON Wed, 20 May 2015 12:24:24 +0000 Continue reading ]]>

london home 1

This beautiful restored townhouse is located in the heart of London. The house oozes history (the house is from 1820!) and architect McClaren Excell has managed to remove years of neglect and decay while creating a modern and elegant home. Most of the furniture in the house is antique, but some modern elements can be found. In some rooms industrial materials have been used, but still the house exudes a warm and welcoming feeling.

A rug is the perfect accessory to give instant color and atmosphere to a room. Rugs are also great to create separate areas in a larger space. For instance you can mark the transition between the living area and the dining area by using a rug. I especially love vintage kilim rugs as they even add more character and warmth to a space. In this post you can see some example how these kind of rugs can be used. Le Souk has a extensive collection of vintage kilim rugs and with code KILIM25 you now get 25% off all rugs! This offer is valid until 25th May or until stock lasts (all kilims are unique and there is only one of each!).

A collection of beautiful plates is a great way to decorate a plain wall. Take some plates in various sizes, patterns and colors and group them together. I love the plates selected in these images as they are playful and they add just the right amount of color.

THE TRAVLES FILES: 5 COLUMNS RIAD IN ESSAOUIRA, MOROCCO Fri, 15 May 2015 07:31:21 +0000 Continue reading ]]>

These beautiful images shot by photographer & stylist Paulina Arcklin feature 5 Columns Riad. This stunning 200 year old house is located in the old medina of Essaouira, a coastal town in Morocco. The guest house has recently gone through a complete renovation and has sympathetically restored, retaining all original features such as the sand stone columns, wooden ceilings and amazing flooring of black and white tiles in the courtyard. The rooms are decorated with a mix of vintage and European furniture and lighting with beautiful antique pieces from Morocco. You can find more information about the Riad and its rates here on the 5 Columns website.

Essaouira, known as Mogador in earlier days, was for centuries a key trading center between Timbuktu and Europe, overseeing flows of manufactured goods streaming south in exchange for African salt, spices, sugar, feathers and gold. In recent years the exchanges have been more cultural in nature: in the 1950′s Orson Welles famously shot “Othello” on Essaouira’s streets and Skala, while in the 1960s and 70s Essaouira and the pristine beaches just south of town provided haven and inspiration for musicians such as Jimmy Hendrix and Cat Stevens.
