Bartsch is a decorative painting workshop specializing in children’s rooms. This company from Paris, France, was founded by cousins Gala and Nicolas. They have combined their skills to create collections of chic and playful patterns in their Parisian workshop. Bartsch, whose name comes from their great-grandfather, is the result of the relationship between graphic design and decorative painting.
Bartsch brings back into fashion the French tradition of decorative painting by imagining collections for children, with modern patterns and colors. Special care is devoted to the quality of materials, the color palette and the use of traditional craftsmanship to create a durable and elegant result.
Designs from the Bartsch catalogue are adapted to each space, depending on its size, light and spirit. Each pattern is hand-painted directly on the wall. ou can see the gesture and the brush strokes; you can feel the texture of the material. You will never find the same pattern or the same texture twice. Each wall is absolutely unique. More information can be found on Bartsch’s website.

Lubna Chowdhary is ceramicist living and working in London. This graduate of the Royal College of Art makes bespoke tiles and utilitarian items by hand. All her work is craft based but with a practical element to it.
Lubna’s work exudes a rare beauty which combines traditional craft techniques with contemporary colour combinations, abstract motifs and graphic line. The strikingly beautiful glazes are blended in her studio, and painted in multiple layers onto tiles of various dimensions and textures. Each tile is then taken through numerous firings, before it is ready to take its place in a meticulously considered composition .
Lubna’s gorgeous designs are available from her online shop. An exclusive selection of tiles designed for Agnes Emery is available in the Emery and Cie shops in Paris, Antwerp and Brussels. A bespoke range of commissioned products is available from Maragret Howell shops worldwide .

I LOVE this robot wallpaper design by Dutch design label Studio Ditte. It makes me want to redo my son’s room right now! After a journey through containers with small hardware parts and disassembling appliances, Studio Ditte brings a unique robot wallpaper. The army of friendly robots is made from old prints and decorated with small finds. The robot wallpaper is a blend of the nostalgic and the digital age.
This super cool wallpaper is available here (135 EUR per roll).

Do you have tiles in your bathroom or do you prefer a different coating on your walls? Today’s post features both options! Tadelakt (as used in the image above) is a great if you don’t want to use tiles in your bathroom or kitchen. It is a waterproof lime plaster traditionally used in hammams and bathrooms of the riads in Morocco.
The beautiful shiny tiles in the picture above give a totally different effect and atmosphere (tiles and image from Walker Zanger).

Today is a grey day here in The Netherlands. This inspired me to show you various shades of grey (image from AnoukB & & Marjon Hoogervorst / Taverne Agency).
The white flowers and ceramic objects make a beautiful contrast with the dark grey wall (image from Lerkenfeldt Photography).
A grey heart gives some color to a white wall (image from AnoukB & & Marjon Hoogervorst / Taverne Agency).
