Today part two of my series about tiles (you can see part one here). Moroccan tiles have been used for thousands of years in Morocco, France and Spain. Each tile is traditionally handcrafted by artisans using local materials.
Tile making is considered an art in itself. The art is transmitted from generation to generation by maâlems (master craftsmen). A long training starts at childhood in order to master exceptional skills.
Moroccan tiles are well known for their beautiful patterns and colors. The Royal Design Studio make stencils inspired by Moroccan tiles (see image above).
The most current form of the zellige (=tile) is the square. Other forms are also possible in composition: the octagonal combined with a cabochon, a star, a cross, etc.
Today I’m loving … these new designs by ixxi. With this special design called Loco by Studio Boot, you can create more than 32.642 geometric designs. This collection of modular tiles (made from synthetic paper) are available in neon yellow, pink, orange, red, green, white and warm gray. More information can be found the ixxi website.
I am thinking about getting some beautiful plates and make these into a wall arrangement in our kitchen area. To get inspiration I searched online and found these images that show various ways of grouping plates together. Now I only have to find plates which fit really nicely together!
Talented designer Sanna Annukka has three new limited edition silk-screen prints available in her online shop. The new range: Lapinlintu, Karelianlintu and Saimaanlintu are fantastical birds based on much loved areas of Sanna’s country Finland.
Le Souk and The Style Files are giving away two sets of these birds wall stickers from ferm LIVING. What do you have to win one of these sets:

Today I’m loving … this chalkboard paint wall. This is not the first time that I show you a wall painted with chalkboard paint but I have not seen a wall like this in a bedroom before!

The award winning Scrapwood Wallpaper Collection is a worldwide success. Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek has designed two additional styles which are available from November.
The wallpaper emulates planks of scrapwood, which gives a warm and rustic feeling to your home.
More information can be found on this website, where you can also purchase the wallpaper.
