lace print bottons

These cute buttons with a lace print are designed by Laura Walker. This UK based designer studied Textile crafts at Huddersfield University and set up her studio in Sheffield. During her study she has specialised in embroidery and has expanded on her interest in embroidery by designing and making ceramic buttons. Laura: ‘I make one off pieces for display around the theme of material culture, these then fuel my quirky accessories and ceramic buttons’.

Her buttons are available in a range of sizes and colors through GlimseOnline. This is a great online marketplace connecting artists and designers with buyers both trade and private. Artists and designers through GlimpseOnline.com are able to exhibit, sell and promote their work to an international audience. It is worth checking out this website (but be aware that prices are in British Pound).

clutch purse

While searching for a small handbag I found these beautiful clutch purses on Etsy. The purses are from Red Ruby Rose, an illustrator/photographer based in the UK.

I bought the purse with the peacock feather print (left image). When receiving the package a few days ago I was happy to see that the purse is beautifully made! Click here to see more gorgeous bags of this Etsy store.

bags made from recycled blankets

I love the Something Old, Something New bags from Tineke Beunders, and I am very happy to have them in my shop Le Souk. The Dutch designer is fascinated by woolen blankets, especially those with beautiful patterns. She transforms these re-used blankets into gorgeous new handbags. The only new part is the birch wood handle. The beautiful patterns combined with a colorful cotton lining make every bag unique.

The bag is now also available with a handle that can be carried around the arm (€82.95). The basic handbag (€74.95) has a handle that can be carried in the hand.

sarah bleibtreu’s gorgeous brooklyn home

I received an email from tsf reader Colleen telling me about the Brooklyn home of handbag designer Sarah Bleibtreu. Colleen was so kind to send me some photos to share this gorgeous house with you.

The interiors and some exterior spaces of this house are Bleibtreu’s own design.

It is worth checking out Sarah’s website as her bag line is as gorgeous as her house. I love the clutch featured below!

Thanks Colleen for sending me the images!

jewellery of broken porcelain

Mariella di Gregorio is a jewellery designer from Palermo, Italy. Her jewellery can best be described as ‘improperly’ designed jewels, created with bits of porcelain. Mariella’s earrings, bracelets and necklaces are born out of a careful analysis and study of this material. The accurate selection of each piece together with its very careful and professional fitting makes each piece an absolutely unique product. On Mariella’s blog you can find more information, here you also see her other beautiful designs.

marije geursen

From her studio in Amsterdam Dutch jewellery designer Marije Geursen creates beautiful jewellery which is produced in small series. My favorite design is the I Give Love necklace (top images). The pattern of this silver heart consist of Arabic geometrical patterns combined with typical Dutch cutting-art: two cultures meet each other in a single piece of jewellery. This openwork pendant is made of silver and is attached to a hematite necklace, strung on red thread. The price of this gorgeous necklace is €290. There is also a porcelain version of this heart available (second row). The price depends on the number of hearts (a necklace with 3 hearts is for example €165).

This textile brooch represents a big flower made up out of four hearts. The pattern of the ‘Give Love’ series is screen printed on textile. The pattern is enriched by an embroidery made by a studio employing mentally disabled people. These people work with great care and precission, resulting in a beautiful piece of handcraft. It comes in a black and a white version.
