I love things made from wood, especially old wood. No wonder that I LOVE these photos showcasing the designs of carpenter Andrea Brugi.

Andrea’s ‘laboratorio’ with all his beloved amazing pieces is a graveyard of beautiful old stuff. Here you can find anything: old railway beams, chairs and tables with a missing leg, tree trunks, roots from a 400 year old olive tree, etc. All just waiting to be fixed or given a new life.

All his designs have a strange touch of naivety, yet a the same time they are modern and contemporary with a rustic and organic appearance.

Andrea always tell people that he doesn’t make up the shapes: “the shape is already in the piece – a design of nature”.

Today I’m loving … these beautiful tables with leaf print from Holmes Wilson. These Pliny tables have impressions of leaves from Inula, Sage, Echium, Artichoke, Eucalyptus, Calla Lily, and Banana. You may also request a leaf of your choice. Each seat is unique and hand made.

Today I’m loving … the stump stools from the Cumulus Project. The wood for these three stools was harvested from a fallen maple tree . Then the stools were upholstered with white leather and copper tacks over sustainably-harvested-latex foam.

Another Country makes contemporary craft furniture. Their designs are archetypal, calling on the familiar and unpretentious forms of British Country kitchen style, Shaker, traditional Scandinavian and Japanese woodwork.

All their beautiful pieces are made from solid wood and produced by hand in a small workshop in Dorset, England. One of my favorite pieces is this day bed made from solid European oak.

Another Country has taken familiar forms of craft furniture and pared them back to their most basic elements and made them using the most efficient workshop techniques and the best quality wood.

Each furniture piece is made in a way that limits wasted material and time , that is easy to transport (flat-pack for large pieces) and versatile (meaning your furniture gets more than one job done). And the good news is: they ship world wide! Visit their website for more information.

These fabulous knitted stools are from British textile designer Claire-Anne O’Brien

Today I’m loving … this colorful Thonet rug and chairs. The image is from the Thonet Showroom in the former home of the Thonet family.

A few weeks ago UK based furniture designer Pinch showed their new collection at 100% Design in London. Pinch is the award-winning, husband and wife team of Russell Pinch and Oona Bannon. New in the collection are these three-legged side tables with a turned solid wood top and triangular shelf below (image above).

The Pontus desk (image below) is a generously proportioned partner desk combining walnut, oak and painted finish with cable management system and hidden router/hard drive storage built-in. The pigeon-hole unit is available as an option and can be placed directly on the surface of the desk or wall mounted as shown.

You can read more about Pinch in previous posts (here and here) and on their website.

I have a love for wooden furniture. Actually for all things made of wood: wooden toys, wooden beams (love the beams in the left image below), wooden home accessories .. I can go on and on.

All these inspiring images are from Danish magazine Rum. I’m wishing that I could buy this mag here in The Netherlands!

Isn’t the rustic outdoor table in the image above simply gorgeous?!
