I am happy to know that a lot of you have used my Amsterdam guide for a visit to Amsterdam. In addition to this guide I will be featuring a shop, restaurant, cafe or another place of interest in Amsterdam every week. I start off with Marqt, a great shop that I visited this weekend. Marqt is a new type of shop where you can buy food directly from the farmer, producer and maker. You can always choose a variety of fresh and high quality food from seafood, meat, vegetables, cheese and breads that are sold by the local producers. The food they sell here is mainly organic.

I was like a kid in a candy store. I love everything about this market: they sell the most delicious food, the interior is very stylish, the packaging of the products is beautiful.. and I can go on. We bought some beautiful asparagus from the south of Holland, super fresh organic eggs, creamy butter and delicious ham from a local farmer. That will be a great meal tonight! Address: Overtoom 21. They will be opening another shop (located at the Rembrandtplein) very soon.
{You can find more great Amsterdam shops & stops in my Amsterdam Guide and in the Amsterdam category.}

At 1st November 2006 I started this blog. And today I got a wonderful 2-year anniversary present: the style files is mentioned in the November issue of Domino magazine. I am very happy with this and I am honoured to be mentioned on the same page as great blogs such as Decor8, Apartment Therapy and MoCo Loco. Thanks Domino! I also want to thank all the style files readers for visiting my blog in the past two years. THANK YOU!

Today I would like to introduce another sponsor of the style files: Twins’ Garden. Ingrid Amenda is the owner of this lovely online fabric shop which focuses on cotton fabrics of high quality and wonderful patterns, developed by designers all over the world.

Twins’ Garden is based in Germany but luckily they ship world-wide. Their English website will be available soon. For now you can order from their German website, which is easy even if you don’t speak German. Or you can contact Twins’ Garden (info@twinsgarden.de), I am sure that they will be more than happy to help your with the ordering process!
I’m back! It has been very quiet from my part for the last couple of days. As I was not able to access the admin part of the style files I could not publish any posts. To my big relief this problem has been solved now!
I hope you all have had a great weekend. My weekend was exhausting… As you might know we recently bought a new house. We will be moving in December but I had to move out of my apartment before October 1st. So I, and three truck loads of stuff, moved into Ivar’s small apartment where we will be living (it will be more like camping) for the next two months before moving to our new home. This is how Ivar’s apartment used to look like and here you can see how it looks now. We will be organising all my stuff in the course of the week but at the moment I feel like one of those people that is obsessed with collecting stuff..

I am happy that Volksfaden is a new sponsor of the style files! Having sponsors enables me to spend more time on the style files, and less time at my normal day job (which is a good thing!). Volksfaden has a gorgeous collection of fabrics that are imported from the US or Japan. The shop is based in Germany but they ship world-wide.
Shop owner Linda Gaylord is committed to offering an exquisite range of exciting and innovative quilting fabrics. Linda: ” Quality will never be an issue and I only sell fabric I love to work with myself. Above you can see a sample of the beautiful fabrics that are available from Volksfaden.
The Home Rejuvenation’s poll on 10 most influential design bloggers is back! Home Rejuvenation has consolidated a long list of design blogs culled from votes received during last year’s poll. I am honoured that the style files is included in the list! You can vote by sending in a maximum of 5 choices from the list by 15th October 08. Click here to see the list and to vote.

Domino Magazine has a piece on their website featuring 16 international design bloggers. And quess what? The Style Files is mentioned in this list!! I am very honored to be part of it and to mentioned together with these great blogs. The article is written by the lovely Holly. You might know Holly from her blog decor8 but this busy lady recently started another blog called Haus Maus, which is a diary documenting her adventures in setting up a city apartment in Hannover (Germany) and navigating a new culture. Thank you Holly and Domino for including me in your list!

Welcome to all Aussie visitors! I was very happy to hear that the style files is mentioned in this month’s issue of Australian magazine Belle. I was already wondering were all those Australian visitors came from. Click here if you’d like to read the article. I am very honored to be mentioned with all these great blogs. Thanks Jo, for letting me know!

Not only the weather temperature is rising here in The Netherlands but my body temperature is rising (to a boiling point) as well. Why can’t companies do their job anymore? FedEx managed to loose a package that I sent to the UK some days ago. They can’t provide a tracking number (how the hell can that happen?), they do not know where the package is and they don’t phone me back as requested. One FedEx employee even had the nerves to tell me that I did not send a package at all. Basically saying that I was either a liar or a fool (sending imaginary packages). Very, very frustrating! This is the second time that I use FedEx as a courier. The previous time they delivered one package too late. So a 100% failure score for FedEx, which is quite amazing for such an established company.

This hasn’t got anything to do with design but I had to get this off my chest (and perhaps you can consider this as a warning for the next time you’re thinking about using FedEx as your courier..). Now I go outside to enjoy the beautiful weather here. I hope you all have a great weekend and I see you back on Monday!
PS: inspired by the beautiful weather some sunny images from Hotel Deseo in Mexico (images from design hotels)
