Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments and email about the birth of our son Kick. We enjoyed reading them and were touched by your kind words! I’d like to invite you to virtually join us for a ‘beschuit met muisjes’, which is a typical Dutch tradition when a baby is born.
“Beschuit met muisjes” (“Biscuits with little mice”) is the traditional food served to celebrate the birth of a baby in the Netherlands. Beschuit is a kind of toasted bread. They are round, and are prepared by baking a small cylindrical bread, cutting it in half and baking a second time. They are spread with butter (or margarine) and the muisjes (literally translated: ‘little mice’) are sprinkled on top. These muisjes are sugared anise seeds. They are sold in a mixture of two colours: white and blue which are servered when a boy is born and white and pink for a new born girl.
Last Monday, 13 September, we became the proud and happy parents of a beautiful baby boy named Kick (which is an old Dutch name). We are all doing great (despite the lack of sleep..)! I have some posts lined up so I will continue blogging but perhaps not as frequent as I am used to. I will resume to my regular schedule in about 2 weeks time.
I am very proud that my blog is included in the September print issue of Martha Stewart Living! The style files is mentioned amongst fourteen recommended sites to bookmark in an article about 100 great finds for every room in the house.
THANK YOU for all your sweet comments, twitter messages and email that I received in the past week! Unfortunately I can’t send you all a personal message to thank you but I want you to know that your kind words are very much appreciated.

Today it is time to let you know why I have not been able to post as much as I normally do. The reason for this is that I am 3.5 months pregnant. We are very happy with the news but unfortunately I was not just suffering from morning sickness: I have been nautious 24/7 for the past 10 weeks. As a result I was not able to do anything (besides lying doing). Luckily I am doing a little bit better now (less nautious) but I am still very weak as I was dehydrated and lost weight. But I have good hope that things will improve soon!
This news is a good opportunity to introduce my new sponsor Smallable. Smallable is a stylish online shop which is based in France, but they can ship world-wide. They have a great selection of childrens clothing and furniture & accessories to decorate nurseries and kids’ rooms.
Due to personal circumstances I was not able to post for while. I hope to be able to resume to regular posting from today. I hope you are still around! These beautiful images are from Morten Holtum’s portfolio.
Merry Christmas everyone! We are having a white Christmas here in The Netherlands.
I’m having a ‘garage sale’ on Ebay! Most of the items that I have for sale are new: things that I bought but never used, products that I bought for Le Souk but are not placed in the webshop yet, etc. Above are some of the items that I am selling: silver Moroccan teapot, embroidered pillow case with pompoms, Butterfly clothing hook, silk Ikat pillow. Click here to see all items for sale (more will follow in the next days).
The winner of the Volksfaden give-away is Lana from South Africa. I used random.org to draw a number between 1 – 63 (the total number of comments). Comment no. 21 has won which is the comment from Lana. Congratulations! Thank you all for participating!
I am very honoured to be asked by Google to be one of their ‘Power Readers’ ! For this new project Google has approached people across a variety of fields and ask them what they read online. Click here to explore and subscribe to any of the participants’ reading lists, or to any individual sites and blogs they recommend.
