Patricia Urquiola has designed a collection of outdoor furniture for Spanish company Kettal. The images for the Kettal catalogue were shot in Morocco. Love them!

rocket st. george

UK shop Rocket St. George has a great collection of home accessories. Here some of my favorites: ‘all you need is love’ art panel (top left), peace cushion (top right), ‘every day I love you’ sign (images below).

temporary attic abode

This temporary loft is situated in an old factory. While transforming the ground floor and first floor into a gallery and home, the owners took refuge in the attic.

Although this was only a temporary solution, they decorated the top floor in a nice and clever way. Using found materials like shopping carts and industrial lockers, they transformed the space into an innovative live/work home. Their two kids get to live every child’s dream: they sleep in a tent!

beautiful dress

I am loving this picture (found on The Satorialist) for more than one reason: the beautiful Missoni dress, the wonderful blue sky and not to forget the gorgeous view on the Sydney Opera House (Sydney is one of my favorite cities in the world!).

a lovely guesthouse in france

This summer I will be travelling to France. In my search for lovely places to stay I found this gorgeous maison d’hotes (guest house) which I would like to share with you. La Bergerie de Feline, a former 19th century barn, is located in an area called La Drôme (it not far from Lyon).

All rooms are decorated with great taste: modern furniture and accessories are combined with tradional elements.

The bergerie is situated on a hillside offering stunning views on the surroundings. Click here for more information (the website is in French).

news from milan

The Salone Internazionale del Mobile was held last week in Milan, Italy. Here are some images of the latest designs presented by Dutch designers. The photo above shows the work of Dutch label Goods.

Above and below are designs from Studio Job’s gospel collection.

Piet Hein Eek presented Table Soccer (below).”It began with the figure, folded like a clothespin, after which the feet, legs, torso, shoulder blades and head automatically followed. The rest of the game was then produced to match in the same rugged steel and functional style.”

paris: made by hand

I have been knowing about Pia’s project for a while. I am excited that I am now able to tell you that Pia Jane Bijkerk’s beautiful book about the best addresses in Paris is out on the shelves now! Pia, a talented stylist, has discovered more than 50 gorgeous shops in Paris where you’ll find the most original and creative clothing, jewelry, handbags, ceramics, home furnishings, and decorative objects in Paris.

Paris: Made by Hand celebrates shops that exemplify the Parisian fait main (= made by hand) aesthetic by offering truly one-of-a-kind items, produced or restored entirely by hand. And with its beautiful photography (shot by Pia herself), the design of the book makes it an art object unto itself. The book is sold in book stores world-wide. You can purchase the book online here. Even if you don’t have planned a trip to Paris soon this is a great book to read and drool over the pretty pictures. A perfect gift!

amsterdam: queen’s day

Today, April 30, is the national holiday in The Netherlands called Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day). The Dutch have been celebrating Queen’s Day on April 30 since 1949, when the new Queen Juliana ascended the throne (30 April is Juliana’s birthday). When the current Queen Beatrix succeeded Juliana in 1980, she chose to keep Queen’s Day on April 30. Queen’s day is the most celebrated holiday here in Holland. Amsterdam festivities in particular rival those of Mardi Gras in New Orleans or New Year’s Eve in New York City. Don’t miss a visit to Amsterdam when you are around on 30 April, it’s a big (orange) party!
