a gorgeous london home

Judging from the carpet in the image above, you might have guessed that this gorgeous house is located in the UK, in London to be precise.

Every space in this house is just beautiful. The rooms are large and filled with light.

All rooms are decorated with antique and curious objects.

The Aga stove (image above)! give a cosy vibe to the kitchen.

amsterdam: restaurant de kas

One of the finest restaurants in Amsterdam is ‘De Kas’. De Kas is a large restaurant and nursery, located in a former greenhouse on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Their menu is about simplicity and flavor, using only the best organic ingredients. The restaurant grows most of their own vegetables and herbs in their organic garden, which is in Ilpendam (a small village north of Amsterdam not far from where I live). Dutch designer Piet Boon is responsible for the interior of the restaurant.

Chef and owner Gert Jan Hagememan: “A kitchen surrounded by fertile soil where vegetables and herbs thrive … Where daylight shines in from all sides and where the chefs are free to express their creativity daily using the best the season has to offer. It seems an obvious concept, but I spent twenty years surrounded by white tiles under fluorescent lighting before I came up with it.”

If you are in Amsterdam and you like fine food then De Kas is definitely worth checking out!

debi treloar – part II

Yesterday’s post with photo’s from the portfolio of Debi Treloar showed my love for neutral colours. I do realise that some of you prefer a bit more colour.

Today’s post is for all of those wanting more colour in their lives! These images are also from photographer Debi Treloar.

debi treloar

I have a soft spot for neutral & taupe colours… These gorgeous pics are from Debi Treloar’s portfolio. This talented photographer is originally from Zimbabwe but she has lived and worked in London for the last 15 years. Debi has worked on publications ranging from Elle Décor UK, Italy, Germany, France and Japan to Red, Olive and IDFX Magazine.

interior inspiration from elle interior sweden

I am loving the ethnic vibe of this interior image that I found on the website of ELLE Interior Sweden. Beautiful!

personalized ikea cabinet

With a bit of creativity you can transform an IKEA cabinet into an unique object. The pattern in the image above (from Elle Interior Sweden) is designed by illustrator Maja Sten. The cabinet with drawers (PS SINKA) is from IKEA.

our house: shady tree light

Another peek into our new house: above our wooden dining table (made from recycled wood that is over 100 years old) we have two Shady Tree ceiling lamps from Dutch designer Nicolette Brunklaus. This beautiful lamp, which is available from online shop POAA, has a large translucent shade that is white on the outside. When the light is turned on a forest scene printed on the inside is revealed.

hammocks

I am loving this hammock! The hammock is woven with complex Jacquard technique, which is finished with a beautiful and strong finish in the form of a manual Focal weaving, known as macramé and an edging that Brazilians are known as “Veranda”.

I also like this idea of having an hammock indoors like in this picture that I found on Design*Sponge.

amsterdam: nevy restaurant

Restaurant Nevy is the one of Amsterdam’s newest restaurants. It belongs to the same stable as Envy and Vyne, a trendy restaurant and wine bar. Nevy, a fish restaurant, is located at the waterfront on the IJ. The IJ is a river, formerly a bay, in the Dutch province of North Holland.

The gorgeous interior is designed by well-known architect studio Concrete. They choose simplicity, in the way one would sketch a traditional fish restaurant, but then in the present, modern time.

An allusion is made to the classic, old market halls such as those that still can be found in France for instance. Bright colours, a lot of marble, transparency through the many window and the panoramic view over the IJ provides a great atmosphere. For those wondering about the white chairs, this is the Revolt chair from Dutch designer Friso Kramer.
