WEEKEND ESCAPE: AUSTRALIA’S COFFEE SCENE

coffeebar1

When I was in Australia years ago I was surprised by the amount of coffee bars and great restaurants. And this was in 2001/2002, at that time it was very hard to get a descent coffee here in Amsterdam and there I was in cities such as Melbourne and Sydney where I could get a perfect espresso on almost every corner. I was in coffee heaven! Now the coffee culture is probably even more thriving and I can not wait to visit this wonderful country again some day. Another thing that I remember was the decor; most coffee places and restaurants were beautifully decorated in a modern yet cozy style. The two coffee bars featured in this post are designed by Melbourne based studio Larritt-Evans. The first four images show ESPL in Surfers Paradise. Coffee bar Market Lane (Therry St) in Melbourne is pictured in the botton four images.
