A CHARMING BEACHSIDE COTTAGE IN SOUTH AFRICA

summer-home-1

This charming beachside holiday cottage is located on the West coast of South Africa. It is the ultimate get away get-away-from-it-all retreat as the nearest shop is 40km away. The cottage is green: rainwater is captured and electricity comes from solar power. The home is built from reclaimed and natural materials and many of the pieces that were selected for the interior were salvaged from roadsides or from Cape Town junk shops.

  1. Hi! I love your blog, it’s actually a great inspiration to me. Keep it up!

  2. Oh my gosh, I’ve fallen in love. This beach house looks absolutely divine! Is it a cob house? The walls look like it, though that could be some other treatment. The styling and design is perfectly beachy without screaming it in your face. I love the cabinetry and the dining room as well. Really, really stunning!

  3. I can’t get over that bathroom with the tub. Beautiful!

  4. I was around in the sixties and I like the modern look then and now, I think the best stuff still looks good….Steve Jones

  5. Such a beautiful home, it has a simplistic charm about it. Love the white airy decor with rustic tones and the occasional pop of colour . In the first bedroom I love the French style side unit and the pink headboard, adds a bit of character to the room without being too much – gorgeous

  6. Your photos makes me want to take a trip to a warm and sunny place.

  7. I am looking for inspiration doing up the next beach house in Paternoster – and came across this one! Great to see the reaction! I was the interior designer of this house 2004! I am inspiring myself!!
