inspiring work spaces

workspacerue3.jpg

Today’s post is all about work spaces. I like my office at home to be inspiring but also uncluttered and practical. What do you want from an office? How does your dream office look like? And which of the work spaces in these images do you like best? I like to hear from you!

wall art from paris

wallpaperparis.jpg

Bartsch is a decorative painting workshop specializing in children’s rooms. This company from Paris, France, was founded by cousins Gala and Nicolas. They have combined their skills to create collections of chic and playful patterns in their Parisian workshop. Bartsch, whose name comes from their great-grandfather, is the result of the relationship between graphic design and decorative painting.

wallpaperparis2.jpg

Bartsch brings back into fashion the French tradition of decorative painting by imagining collections for children, with modern patterns and colors. Special care is devoted to the quality of materials, the color palette and the use of traditional craftsmanship to create a durable and elegant result.

wallpaper3.jpg

Designs from the Bartsch catalogue are adapted to each space, depending on its size, light and spirit. Each pattern is hand-painted directly on the wall. ou can see the gesture and the brush strokes; you can feel the texture of the material. You will never find the same pattern or the same texture twice. Each wall is absolutely unique. More information can be found on Bartsch’s website.

Today I’m loving … these beautiful screenprinted home accessories from Etsy shop Jenna Rose. Jenna starts each design out as a drawing, largely inspired by her surrounding and the everyday objects within it. Each piece is screen-printed in house using water based pigments and natural or organic materials.

a beautiful victorian house in toronto, canada

marion1.jpg

I love this house that was featured on Design*Sponge recently. It belongs to Emma Reddington from the blog The Marion Housebook. Emma has been living in this beautiful Victorian house in Toronto just over three years now.

marion2.jpg

Emma documented the renovation and decoration of most of the rooms on her blog. The cushions featured in the bedroom (top image) are made an old rug kilim rug. Furniture pieces such as the wooden bench and bed were designed by Emma herself.

marion4.jpg

The house has lots of original Victorian details intact, like the fireplace and mouldings around the doors.

things that caught my eye

todayimloving1.jpg

Today I’d like to show you some things that caught my eye this week. The Rangoli patchwork bedspread in the images above and below is handcrafted from silk in India (found via Simple Blueprint).

todayimloving2.jpg

I love the rich hues of the geometric design, which are complimented by aqua topstitching and backed with luxurious silk in fuschia.

todayimloving3.jpg

Clockwise starting top left: Tom Dixon light made from brass with a high gloss white powder coat exterior; Tom Dixon’s fan chair which is a modern take on the classical Windsor chair; wooden macrame bangles from Eleanor Ford; hand-loomed silk cushion in jacquard weave.

a very small house in uruguay

cabopolontia1.jpg

This house is located in the dunes of Cabo Polonio on the eastern coast of Uruguay. It is small, fitting only two people. The materials used for building are very simple, like those of all the houses in Cabo Polonio.

cabopolontia2.jpg

Also the interior is simple with whitewashed walls and floors. The main color is white with accessories in earthy tones. True to the spirit of the inhabitants in the area, the house remains without electricity using lanterns and candles.
