carpenter andrea brugi

andreabrugi1.jpg

I love things made from wood, especially old wood. No wonder that I LOVE these photos showcasing the designs of carpenter Andrea Brugi.

brugi1.jpg

Andrea’s ‘laboratorio’ with all his beloved amazing pieces is a graveyard of beautiful old stuff. Here you can find anything: old railway beams, chairs and tables with a missing leg, tree trunks, roots from a 400 year old olive tree, etc. All just waiting to be fixed or given a new life.

All his designs have a strange touch of naivety, yet a the same time they are modern and contemporary with a rustic and organic appearance.

Andrea always tell people that he doesn’t make up the shapes: “the shape is already in the piece – a design of nature”.

bahama colours

bahamas2.jpg

This post is for all of you who can do with a little bit of sunshine and who need some color in their lives!

bahamas3.jpg

In my part of the world it is winter time which means that is it dark and the days are short. At the Bahamas (where these gorgeous images are taken) there is plenty of sunshine (and color)!

brooklyn home of j.crew director jenna lyons

jccrew2.jpg

Unfortunately the stylish clothes from US brand J. Crew are not available here in The Netherlands but we can take a peek into the home of their creative director Jenna Lyons.

jccrew1.jpg

Together with her husband Vince, Jenna lives in a beautiful brownstone house in Brooklyn, New York.

jccrew4.jpg

The couple found the three story house in poor condition. It had been renovated only once in the seventies, and it had kept all original details.

Modern pieces are combined with antique items. Many of their furniture pieces are made to measure.

They kept their kitchen (image below) modern and minimalistic.

a loft in paris

milk2.jpg

This loft, featured in Milk Magazine, belongs to Estelle, a graphic designer, and Jean-Michel who is a landscape designer. Together with their childeren Brune (7 years) and 2 year old daughter Fleur they live in Paris, France.

All rooms, with white walls and black floors, connect with each other by a set of openings and ingenious arrangements. This way there is plenty of space to play with bikes and rollerblades!

20% discount on towel with woven flower pattern

hammam.jpg

In the month of January Le Souk offers 20% discount on the beautiful towels with woven flower pattern (displayed in the upper left image). These Turkish towels have been manufactured in the same way for many years. The woven flower pattern and the beautifully knotted fringe give a luxury feel to these towels. The towels fit really well with our other bathroom accessories such as the hamam bowls Sun, the haman bowl with hammered motif and our popular hamam towels.
