I now have a large garden in which I am creating a vegetable garden, but I used to have a small balcony. For people with small gardens or balconies the designs from French label Bacsac are a great solution to grow vegetables and plants.

Bacsac was born when French designer Godefroy de Virieu met landscapers Louis de Fleurieu and Virgile Desurmont. Together, they searched for an alternative solution to avoid the constraints of creating a roof garden in town (taking into consideration difficulties of transport, excessive weight, etc).

Bacsac comes in various sizes so it can be hung on the wall, hung on you or strapped to your car. Bacsac’s durable material will keep it looking pretty for years to comes, as it is UV and traction/tear resistant. The Bacsac is perfect for gardening in small places as it allows the plants to breathe because of its permeability and its water draining attributes.

Harri about the tray which is called Fat Tray: ‘I have called this voracious tray ‘fat’ because it has already swallowed everyhing you need for setting a table, which is now on the inside, while on top, fresh food, beverages or pastries area ready to be served during a business meeting or an afternoon tea. It is the first tray/container by Alessi and their only wooden tray currently in production.’

This beautiful house is located on Filicudi, Italy. Filicudi is one of eight islands that make up the Aeolian archipelago, situated 20-30 miles northeast of the island of Sicily.

A gorgeous shade of pale blue has been used throughout the entire house to give color to the rooms and outdoor areas.

All the rooms are named after islands belonging to the Aeolian archipelago. The names and islands are painted on the doors (see images below).

A kilim rug gives an ethnic touch. I have been seeing a lot of these kilim rugs lately.

Belgian company Vincent Sheppard has a lovely collection of indoor and outdoor furniture.

The reknowned Lloyd Loom process was invented in 1917 by the American Marshall B. Lloyd, who twisted craft paper round a metal wire, placed the paper threads on a loom and wove them into what was to become the traditional Lloyd Loom fabric. Lloyd Loom chairs quickly became very popular. The chair in the images above and below is the Gigi chair.

This neglected barn in The Netherlands has been beautifully renovated by Ina and Matthijs van Meijet Cruijsen. The living room (top image), as well as the rest of the house, is a great balance of rustic and contemporary. The large window offers a magnificent view over the Dutch countryside.

The combination of a modern lifestyle is reflected in the rustic ambiance of the house, especially in the kitchen (image below). Various materials and styles blend together in both rustic and contemporary. The bathroom (top right image) is located in the area were once hay was stored.
