whiting architects australia

Are you enjoying our tour around the world? Today we travel to Australia!

aus6.jpg

Remember that gorgeous house in Melbourne? The owner/architect Steve Whiting send me an email with a link to his website where more beautiful houses can be found.

These images are from Whiting Architects residential work. The houses are located in Melbourne, Australia.

All houses are decorated in the same style: a very comtemporary look combined with mid modern century furniture pieces.

This weekend I came across some beautiful photos on decor8. The images were from the porfolio of Annie Schlechter. Annie is a photographer from New York who has an impressive list of clients (Domino, W Magazine, Life, New York Times – to name a few).

prefab holiday cabin on waiheke island, new zealand

nz4.jpg

This prefab cabin is designed and owned by architect Andre Hodgskin. It is located in the middle of nature on Waiheke Island in New Zealand. This modern cottage, between the green hills and blue ocean, perfectly suits the nature and blends perfectly into the landscape.

A deck has been installed as a sort of platform to feel even closer to the sea and admire the scenery. The pacific wind cools every room in the house.

nz3.jpg

This bedroom has a stunning view on the ocean. The blue sky and sea merge into a vision of paradise. It seems that the sea ends right at the edge of the bed!

nzmc.jpg

The dining room, overlooking the the Pacific Ocean, is extened by the terrace. The transition from interior to exterior is smooth and hardly noticable. This house has one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen!

I received an email from Natasha introducing me to her work. Natasha Haimovich, a stylist and chef, works together with still-life photographer Yossi Salis. Together they form SalisStudio which is based in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Above you can see some of their beautiful work. You can visit their website to see more from their portfolio. They also have a beautiful blog with impressions from beautiful places and good food.

a beautiful farmhouse in tuscany, italy

toscane1.jpg

Fasten your seatbelts because we will be travelling the globe! In the next two weeks I will be showing you beautiful houses in Mexico, the UK, France, Australia and New Zealand. Today we start in Italy, in Tuscany to be exact.

toscane2.jpg

This farmhouse was nothing but ruins but architect Jean-Philippe Gauvin brought new life into it. He renovated the farmhouse while preserving the authenticity and sense of the place. The terrace (images above) is decorated in an oriental style. The fabric and pillows are from Turkey.

toscane4.jpg

The cupboard in the kitchen was kept in the orginal pink colour.

toscane5.jpg

For the pool (image below), Jean-Philippe Gauvin preferred a grey coating giving the water a nice dark green rather than a bright blue. This way the pool merges with the gorgeous landscape.
