Louise and Paul Venning moved from London to the French Alps with their children four years ago in search of a more relaxed pace of life. Their chalet is different from the standard alpine chalet, which is usually wall-to-wall pine. Nestled under a blanket of snow, the 3-bed chalet boasts a surprisingly fresh interior, with whitewashed walls and modern kitchen appliances. Thanks to an abundance of sheep-skin rugs, underfloor heating and a huge wood-burning stove, their home radiates a friendly warmth.

I think that is the only way I’d ever move back to a cold environment (I grew up in Colorado). Heated floors, warm fuzzy rugs, lots of fireplaces and great insulation! I’m glad they are trying to be different with their decor.
