farmer in search of style

dutchdesign1.jpg
These beautiful pouffes from Christien Meindertsma were recently displayed at an expostion called ‘Farmer in search of style’ which was organised by Designhuis Eindhoven. The pilosophy behind the exposition is that everything seems to indicate that rural realities are influencing urban life. The greening of the city and the urbanization of the country will ultimately lead to the blurring of borders between these two domains. Designers, artists and architects are reflecting upon this exchange of ideas.

dutchdesign3.jpg
In a first trial to understand and map this movement, through fifteen installations, Designhuis Eindhoven is exploring a new lifestyle where humans are seen as an integral part of the ecologic cycle, integrated in the process.

silverware inspiration

teapot.jpg
Happy weekend everyone! I end this week with some inspirational images. I love how silverware objects are used to style these gorgeous shots!

silver1.jpg
Similar vintage items can be found on flea markets. At the moment I have two silver teapots in my Ebay shop (see here and here and see all items here).

silver2.jpg
The silver matches very well with the colourful flowers. I also like the idea of using a silver teapot as a vase (top image).

a beautiful spanish summer house

jordi1.jpg
Summer might be over in this part of the world but that doesn’t mean that I can not post any more summer houses! In the last months I have featured many houses on Formentera and this beautiful house, belonging to a lady named Paola, is also located on this Spanish island.

jordi2.jpg
Like many of the other Formentera houses this house is also decorated in a simple, rustic style. I am loving the heart shaped ornaments that can be found throughout the house.

vase collection for sale on ebay

vases1.jpg
Not so long ago trend watcher Li Edelkoort predicted that people will create their own ‘museum houses’. We will more and more start living among all kind of collections. This way we can show our identity and our uniqueness. Our collections, of for instance vintage glass and ceramics, can make our house and ourselves stand out of the crowd. In stead of mass production, we want unique and handmade objects!

vases4.jpg
I especially love vase & pottery collections. Unfortunately I haven’t got enough space to display my large vase collection and therefore I am saying farewell to part of my collection. In the top image above you can see most of the vintage vases that I am selling on Ebay. Click here to see all items that I have for sale on Ebay.

scandinavian mountain cabin

cabin2.jpg
The cosy mountain cabin is a modern take of a traditional barn of the region in Härjedalen, Sweden. The cabin consists of prefabricated wooden units. It was originally designed in 2005 by architect Peter Sahlin for his own family, as a vacation retreat in the fells of Härjedalen. Five houses have since then been produced in the region.

cabin3.jpg
The interior is modern and white. Warmth is added with wooden plywood walls and ceilings. The cabin is not very large (between 85 – 100m2) but it has full amenities including kitchen, bathroom, a sauna, two bedrooms and a loft with a third bedroom. Ecological and rational concerns have been important when choosing materials and construction methods – the lodge is very energy efficient and is built with sustainable and natural materials.

industrial loft in the netherlands

mariec500-2.jpg
This beautiful modern loft near Rotterdam, The Netherlands, belongs to Artistic Director Marieke Wessels and Laszlo Balog. Laszlo is a furniture maker, I posted about his beautiful designs a while ago. On the image above you can see Marieke working (left) together with her sister who is sitting on the Black Magic chair from Ineke Hans. The pendant light above the table is from Tord Boontje. The white vase is designed by Hella Jongerius for IKEA.

mariec500-4.jpg
I love the kitchen and I was amazed to read that most of the kitchen comes from IKEA.

mariec500-3.jpg
On the wall opposite of the stairs, Marieke painted a beautiful yellow flower. On the chest of drawers there is a lamp from Chris Kabel and a ceramic vast from Hella Jongerius.

mariec500.jpg
The cosy living room is decorated with design pieces. The pillows in the image above and below are designed by Helen van Berkel.
