Dwell Magazine recently featured the home of Parisian gallery director Didier Krzentowski. Didier’s house is filled with beautiful art. The installation in the image above is by artist Alan McCollum. house on filicudi with faint pink walls

This typical Eolian house has beautiful faint pink / orange walls. It will not be a surprise for regular readers that this house is also located on the island of Filicudi, Italy. For the rooms a delicate palette of colors has been used.

casa elena on formentera

It has been raining here for the past few days and I’m wishing that I was on a sunny island. High on my list is the Spanish island Formentera where this stunning house is located. Formentera, close to the more lively island Ibiza, is known for its many pristine beaches.

The images are shot by photographer Jordi Canosa. Jordi works for several magazines, including Spanish magazine Habitania which unfortunately is not available in The Netherlands.

The decoration is sober but stylish which fits the house really well. Of course the best feature of the house is that gorgeous view on the sea.

All the houses photographed by Jordi are styled by his wife Daniela Cavestany.

Isn’t that hammock on the terrace (images below) inviting?

amsterdam: hermitage museum

If you are Amsterdam the very recently opened Hermitage museum is an interesting place to visit. The Hermitage is a first true satelite museum of the famous Hermitage in St. Petersburg.

The museum is located in the Amstelhof building, which used to be a care home for the elderly for over 300 years. The building was redesigned and renovated by Dutch architect Hans van Heeswijk. The Amstelhof has a very characteristic classical facade that extends along the River Amstel for 102 metres. Its proportions are exquisite; its design is simple and symmetrical.

The interior is designed by Merkx+Girod architects who also designed the large opening exhibition ‘At the Russian Court’, on display till January 31st 2010.

The two main focal points of the exhibition, the Russian Emperal Protocal and the The Russian Emperal Ball, are located in the two main Halls. The formal aspects of the first and the more festive aspects of the second have been made visible in the exhibition through the use of different materials, colour and spatial organisation.

crochetted pouffe

I love the crocheted pouffes that I have been seeing lately but unfortunately they are all quite expensive. That is why I am happy to have found a very affordable version which is available at Le Souk. This crocheted pouffe, hand-made on the Philippines, is €119.95. The beautiful grey colour is very versatile as it fits very well with any other colour. PS: the image is shot in our house.

and another house on filicudi

I already showed you two beautiful houses on the Italian island Filicudi, and here is another one! To be honest, I had never heard of this small island not far from Sciliy. But I have now added this island to my list of holiday destinations.

I love how the house is decorated: simple but beautiful. I guess you don’t need a lot of accessories and art works with a view like that!

Karina from El Beso emailed me about this beautiful summer house on Ibiza (Spain) that she thought I might like. And she is right: I love it! That kitchen is just gorgeous.

beautiful pouffes

I am happy to have these beautiful pouffes new at Le Souk! The pouffes, which are hand-made from high quality cotton fabric in rich colors, can be used in the living room to create extra seats but they will also look great on a terrace for example.
