in the style of cecilia granath’s copenhagen apartment

Here are some ideas to create a similar style as in Cecilia Granath’s Copenhagen apartment. Moroccan tray & white leather pouffe with embroidery, copper teapot hand-made in Turkey, copper hammam bowl, leather babuches for children.

Silver leather pouffe, linen pillows with silver sequins, white leather pouf, champagne shiny cushion.

These beautiful room dividers are available from Cecilia’s shop Granath.

our new home: the bedroom

Although the renovation of our home was finished months ago, we still have a long list of things to do. One of these things was to install the light fixture in our bedroom. Now this has been done I can finally post a picture of our bedroom. I am very happy with the star-shaped pendant lamp. The lamp, which is available at Le Souk, has been handmade in Egypt. Traditional techniques and craftsmanship are combined with a modern design. The little holes give the most gorgeous light effect on walls and ceiling. Also the wooden stool (used as bedside table), the Flower bedside lamps and the aluminium folding table are from Le Souk.

an eclectic home in copenhagen

I fell in love with this home which I recently spotted in a magazine. The style of owner Cecilia Granath is very similar to my own style! The gorgeous apartment, located in Copenhagen (Denmark), is decorated in white with ethnic elements and silver accessories.

Cecilia has a shop in Copenhagen where she sells fashion and interior accessories from various countries.

Do you love Cecilia’s style as well? In tomorrow’s post you can find some ideas for creating this look.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

outdoor patio

Loving this patio that was featured at Remodelista. The house is part of the New Urbanism development Alys Beach, Florida, from project architects Khoury & Vogt.

arne jacobsen’s serie 7 chair

A reader (Yasnnna) just commented on a previous post about how much she like the the serie 7 chair from Arne Jacobsen.

I know that many of you love this chair. For all of you some more images of this gorgeous design!

gemma ahern’s home

These images, which I found on Design*Sponge, are from the beautiful home of Gemma Ahern. Perhaps the name Ahern rings a bell: Gemma is the sister of stylist and interior designer Abigail Ahern, owner of Atelier Abigail Ahern.

Gemma, who is also part of the Atelier Abigail Ahern design team, came up with creative solution to stay within her budget ($10,300/£6,500) for the renovation. In stead of buying an expensive sofa, the bay window (with slubby cushions) was used to create more seating.

More photos and detailed information about Gemma’s fab house can be found on Design*Sponge.

headboard

If your bed doesn’t have a headboard attached to it, you can create one yourself (if you handy..). In the image above a bespoke canvas takes the place of a headboard, pulling the monochrome bedroom scheme together beautifully. I’m loving that lace pattern!

in the style of katrin arens home

Today’s post if for all you who fell in the love (that includes me!) with Katrin Arens gorgeous home in Italy. This post features some of the furniture that can be found in Katrin’s house.

The beautiful cabinets (from Katrin’s collection) are made from reclaimed wooden beams.

Simple but gorgeous, this rack is made from reclaimed pallets.

The oil paintings in the images above are all from Hella Arens.

In her home Katrin combines her rustic furniture with modern chairs such as the serie 7 chair from Arne Jacobsen.

a stunning home in the lombardy region, italy

I hope you’ll love this house as much as I do! “Creativity, a passion for simplicity, and dedication to the reclamation and re-use of materials, combined with unusual and individual treatments and processes, make ordinary objects extraordinary” is the motto of furniture maker and interior designer Katrin Arens, the owner of this gorgeous house in the Lombardy region, in Italy.

Katrin has made the furniture in her house herself. And good news, her beautiful furniture pieces are also for sale. Each piece is unique and handmade, using materials reclaimed; from derelict country houses, from cellars, and from carpentry studios.

Katrin: “The pieces themselves are as rich in history as they are clear in design – histories which are concealed beneath surfaces with strange shapes, patterns and scars. Thorough craftsmanship and treatments using traditional techniques give the pieces both a smooth finish and an enigmatic feel, exuding long-forgotten colours and scents”. I am in love with that kitchen!

The images below make me want to move to Italy NOW.

urban carpet cyan

When I saw this carpet on Happy Mundane I knew I had to post about it as well. The carpet is designed by Instant Hutong, which are Marcella Campa and Stefano Avesani. The carpet is one of a series of 8 carpets. Each carpet represents different maps of Hutong areas (narrow streets/alleys of courtyard residences that form neighborhoods in Beijing, China).

Each of the carpets has been isolated and presented as autonomous town within the big city. They are embroidered by hand with the same technique of the propaganda slogans on large fabrics used by the communist party during the seventies. The carpets have been filled with white wire wool insertions. All along year 2009 the urban carpets will be shown to the Hutong dwellers inside the courtyards and on the public lanes in order to share the project with people and bring it back to the city districts it was inspired from.
