happy weekend!

Another gorgeous house photographed by Rachel Whiting. Have a wonderful weekend!

simrin textile from brooklyn, ny

Simrin is an exclusive textile label from Brooklyn, New York. Inspired by vintage fabrics and organic forms in nature, they create standout prints in complementary colors perfect for mixing or matching. The collections use a combination of hand screen printing and metallic inks, making each one unique. This beautiful tablecloth (€54.95) is from Simrin’s Surya collection. The ochre colored print is hand screen printed on white cotton. The tablecloth is a perfect compliment to the Surya napkins.

These dishtowels are also from the Surya collection. The dishtowels are sold in a set of three towels with different patterns (as shown in the images).

The tablecloth in the image above is from Simrin’s Nature collection. The beautiful print mimics nature’s most artful forms. The tablecloth is a perfect compliment to the Nature napkins and teatowels. All these Simrin items are available from Le Souk!

baskets as wall art

Isn’t this wall covered with baskets unusual and beautiful?! The image is from the portfolio of Stephan Falcke. His travels all around the world have inspired his designs. Stephen about what inspires him: “I derive a lot of my inspiration from nature and think of my style as a melting pot of various worldwide cultures.” On designing: “The trick is to build visual layers, just as one might do with a painting”.

more beautifully dressed beds

Didn’t yesterday’s post give you enough inspiration? Here are some more beautifully dressed bed. Today’s bedrooms all have a bit more colour: pink and/or purple are used as an accent colour here. An ornate French style bed (image above) makes the bedroom glamorous. The large print metallic wallpaper from Designers Guild adds shimmer to the room.

For an alternative idea to a standard head board, you can use a textured artwork. The piece in the image above is from Helen Amy Murray. It is made of wool felt and will keep the bedroom feeling warm and cosy.

Crisp white tones and soft pink cushions give this bedroom a serene atmosphere. Similar cushions can be found from Rockett St George.

In this bedroom Suzani print fabric is used for the pillows on the bed.

Quilted velvet cushions give a soft feminine touch to the masculine stripy bed linen. The pink rug adds a hint of colour to the room.

interior eye-candy

I found these beautiful images online but unfortunately I forgot to bookmark the website so I can’t tell you who the photographer and/or the stylist is. That vase collection in the first image is gorgeous, isn’t it?! A lovely combination of colours!

gorgeously dressed beds

I received an email from a reader asking if I could share some ‘gorgeously dressed beds’. Of course I can! The feeling he is looking for is Scandinavian. For this look I would keep the look simple and clean. For example, mix crisp white bed linnen with some neutral coloured pillows and bed spread. I love the duvet cover in the image above. In this neutral bedroom, a bold impact is created by with this contemporary patterned bed linen, and accessories in coordinating colours. The bed linen is from Habitat. Unfortunately we don’t have a Habitat store in The Netherlands but I will be making a trip to Antwerp, Belgium (this is the nearest store) to buy this gorgeous duvet cover. It will look gorgeous in our new bedroom!

Crisp white bed linen keeps this room feeling bright and fresh.

This master bedroom is strongly defined by straight lines and a monochromatic palette. The antique Chinese cabinets add warmth to the scheme.

Layer your bed with woolly textured throws in toning colours to create a deliciously comfy bed that will be hard to leave. Similar throws can be found at Nicole Farhi.

You can add sparkle to your sleep zone with shiny cushions, throws and furnture. To keep it fresh, balance with pale walls and crisp white bedlinen. The gold throw is from Next and the cushions are from a selection at John Lewis, Habitat, Clarissa Hulse and BoConcept. There will be more posts about divine bedrooms later this week!

doily necklace

This beautiful necklace is available from Etsy shop The Bungalow. It was made from an unfinished doily done by the designer’s great great grandmother Cecilia in Denmark and attached to a gold chain with a barrel clasp.

patchwork headboard

This patchwork headboard is very different to the wooden headboard I posted about a few days back. This headboard is from Lockwood Design. But if you are creative you could make one yourself. Choose a mix of modern and vintage fabrics for an eclectic look.

an oasis in marrakech

Today I take you on a trip to Marrakech, Morocco. It is here where riad Dar Amane (meaning “House of serenity”) welcomes its visitors in a setting which reinterprets the colors and Moroccan traditions with elegant simplicity and a charming tranquility. The house was in ruins when it was discovered but it has been beautifully restored according to traditional architecture. At the ground floor, an Arab door opens onto the patio. The cushions, in a palette of warm colors, brighten up the velvet mattress that are simply laid on timber.

The walls of the bathroom are coated with tadelakt. The copper fittings are simple and refined. You can create a Moroccan vibe in your bathroom by using copper hammam bowls and towels.

On the roof terrace, under a white Berber tent, a bench and poufs invite you to relax.
Mattresses, clothes of a washable fabric, are resting on a straw mat and trays are used as traditional tables

Also the walls of the kitchen are covered with tadelakt, which is a waterproof lime plaster. Its traditional application includes being polished with a river stone and treated with a soft soap to acquire its final appearance and water resistance.

On the bedroom wall a collection of traditional hats traditional gives some colour local.

You can see some ideas for creating a ‘Moroccan atmosphere’ in your home in last year’s post Moroccan Inspiration.
