christmas gift wrapping ideas

Here are some (last-minute) Christmas gift wrapping ideas! I found the gorgeous faux bois parcel (image above) on Creatures Comfort.

These gift tags (image above) feature deep red letterpressed winterberry designs on 100% cotton Crane’s Lettra cream paper. The tags are great for the holidays or for everyday.

Lovely letterpress gift tags from Etsy shop Old Tom Foolery.

merry christmas!

Christmas is around the corner! Today some beautiful images to get in the festive mood.

These gorgeous settings are styled by Jannicke Krakvik and Alessandro D’Orazio, two stylists from Oslo, Norway. Jannicke and Alessandro work for various magazines such as ELLE Interior Norway.

Merry Christmas to you all!

beautiful object made from forest debris

I received an email from Bianca Black from South Africa in which she introduces Trees with a Conscience. After 10 years in the picture framing and art business, Bianca decided to take a step back and get out the rat race . Her husband introduced her to a forestry concession in Mozambique, Africa, that was FSC certified. They both saw an opportunity in the décor market in supplying wood from well managed forest. At that moment the “forest debris” project was born.

Most of the wood comes from so called debris of offcuts at the sawmill, logs that were in fires, poaching or have been felled in a controlled reforestation program. They are then recycled into beautiful pieces of furniture or home accessories. The concession goes through a viguorous annual audit, by FSC (FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL) which is a non profit organisation that monitors the forests of the world, assuring consumers that the source of their wood is sustainable.both to the land and people who live there (www.fsc.org). For more information about these beautiful objects you can contact Bianca at biancablack@vodamail.co.za.

the most gorgeous christmas tree

I usually don’t post in weekends and although I have million things to do today, I had to post about this beautiful Christmas tree created by Jane. You might know Jane from a post I did a while ago about her shop All the Luck in the World. Jane: “The tree is made with (useless but pretty) objects I have collected over the years.”

Isn’t this the most gorgeous Christmas tree you have ever seen?

knitting grafitti

This is the kind of grafitti I like (via The Design Files)! More examples/images can be found here.

a house on the island of sifnos

This charming old house can be found on Sifnos. Sifnos is a small Greek island where appears to stand still. The house is surrounded by olive trees and goats.

I love the top photo with that beautiful bed. The grey wood was found in the house when the owners moved in. They turned it into a bed, it is that simple! In the living room (photo above) a small alcove functions as a library.

The kitchen and bathroom look gorgeous in all their simplicity.

The patio is a great place to enjoy warm summer nights!

colourful house in london

This colourful house belongs to Lisa Whatmough. Lisa is the woman behind the London label Squint.

The neutral coloured walls and floors make Lisa’s beautiful furniture pieces really pop out.

The kitchen is minimalistic but functional. Look at the teapots which I think are made by Lisa herself!

A black bed again light grey walls: gorgeous!

a christmas diner styled by pia bijkerk

Last Sunday I met up with my friend Pia Bijkerk in Amsterdam where we visited the Christmas Market at the Westergasfabriek. Pia, who is a talented stylist, told me about her work for a shoot for Dutch magazine Maria.

Pia did the styling for a Christmas dinner at Dutch actor Roelof Fernhout’s gorgeous Amsterdam penthouse. Here you can see some of the images of the article. The image above is a behind the scenes shot where you get a glimpse of Roeland’s beautiful kitchen.

Yvette van Boven is responsible for the food styling. Beside her work as a food stylist Yvette also has a restaurant and catering company.

Pia was recently interviewed by the stylish Australian Edge website which showcases Australian creativity. Visit this website if you want to know a little bit more about Pia. The images above and below are from Pia’s portfolio.

Pia also has a fab blog where she often shows her work and talks about her life in Amsterdam (+ Sydney and Paris!).

hammam bowls & towels

There are new hammam bowls available at Le Souk (here and here). We also have new hammam towels: cotton towels in ecru/white and linen towels in ecru with brown or grey.

wooden toys

Are you looking for a present for a child? I think these wooden toys are gorgeous. The classic rocker in the image above has been in production for over 50 years. Its low profile and back rest make it an ideal choice for young toddlers. It is available here.

The Uncle Goose ABC Blocks (image above) are handcrafted in Grand Rapids from sustainable Michigan basswood and embossed with child-safe inks. Each block features a unique animal picture, a number or math symbol, and four letters (two embossed) for a total of four complete alphabets. Also available from Pomme Shop.

The cute little kitchen (image above) is available from Buisjes En Beugels. By turning it, the kitchen can also be used as puppet theatre! The play barn is from MOMOLL designs. This company produces modern wooden toys with a strong Scandinavian design influence: reduced to the essential, minimalist and pure in form and color. It is available from Buisjes En Beugels.
