vintage camera christmas ornament

This vintage camera ornament is hand-painted on mouth-blown glass. The ornament, which is made in Germany, is available here in three vintage cameras versions (Kodak Brownie, Rolleiflex and Leica). Aren’t these fun?!

a gorgeous house on st. barths

These images are from the gorgeous portfolio of photographer Gaelle Le Boulicaut. Gaelle has worked for many interior magazines such as Elle Decoration, Marie Claire Maison and House and Garden UK.

This beautiful house is located on the Carribean island Saint Barthélemy. It was recently featured in Dutch magazine Elle Wonen.

I love the open plan living room and kitchen. The simple design of the wooden furniture, used indoors as well as outdoors, is stunning!

scandinavian pot holders

These cute pot holders are from Etsy shop Stjarnkraft. This seller from Finland does not like mass production and she strive to make the majority of her items as individual as possible instead of repeating a lucky design over and over and over again. This beautiful set of two 100% cotton pot-holders depicts the traditional Swedish dalahäst (in English ‘Dala horse’ or ‘Dalecarlian horse’) crocheted by hand in black and silvery grey in a special technique with double threads, which makes the rear side a negative of the front side. The pot holders are also available in red and in blue.

white interior mixed with colour

I am sorry for the lack of posts the last few days. The reason for this is that we have received the key to our new home! The renovation is starting today and will keep us busy for the next 2 months. I am very excited and can’t wait until the house is finished. I will keep you posted about the progress of course! Today some images of a house that has been featured in Elle Interiör (Sweden).

These pictures were shot by photographer Per Ranung. Unfortunately I don’t have any information to give you about the house. I think the interior design of this house in interesting: a white base is mixed with colors. The Bob Ross like painting/poster is an eye-catcher!

scandinavian home in the netherlands

This beautiful house is located in my hometown The Hague in The Netherlands.

I love the kitchen! We have made similar choices for our kitchen in our new house.

The owner is Swedish which explains the Scandinavian style of decoration. That means lots of white!

The bedroom is serene and cosy.

odds and ends, bits and pieces by jo meesters

Dutch design Studio Jo Meesters creates concepts and products based on the key words of matter and traditional craftsmanship. The ongoing search for innovation in materials and techniques is the major drive of the design bureau, which is considered a laboratory for product concepts. The basic principle in Jo Meesters’ work is sustainability. By integrating various aspects of craftsmanship, sophistication, and detailing, Meesters aims to imbue his projects and products with an emotional value. In this way, he emphasizes his commitment to the creation and perception of a bond between object and user. Accentuating and highlighting this vision, Studio Jo Meesters created TESTLAB, an experimental ongoing project about rejuvenating and reusing discarded materials.

During the Dutch Design Week 2008, TESTLAB kicked off with the collection “Odds and Ends, Bits and Pieces”, consisting out of four furniture pieces. The collection which is entirely made out of 34 discarded wooden beams and 16 leftover blankets, is based on upholstering and weaving techniques creating soft variations of everyday objects.

a family apartment in manhattan

The apartment is home of a family of four. It is situated in the shadows of the Empire Sate Building in Manhattan, New York.

The kitchen is gorgeous. I love the kitchen island which I believe is made of concrete.

The apartment is decorated with a combination of rational architecture and 50′s classical American furniture.

It is not possible to see it on the photos but the apartment has spectacular views over the city.

vanessa bruno’s home in paris

Today another tour around a fashion designer’s home! French designer Vanessa Bruno lives in the historical Marais area of Paris. The building dates from 1650 and originally served as a carriage house for King Louis XIV and his hunting parties. Vanessa Bruno’s apartment has an artfully blended vintage bohemian charm with modern touches. Like with with Bruno’s clothing line, feminine pastel shades play an important role.

The beautiful photos are from Birgitta Wolfgang Drejer, a photographer that has specialized within interior- and life-style photographing, which has brought her throughout the world on assignments for major Danish and international magazines. Birgitta has taken the dogma effect into her pictures – capturing the present in her pictures focusing on the raw yet feminine style.
