bags from drikab

Etsy is a great source for finding a beautiful bag! I love these colourful ones from DrikaB. This Etsy shop owner was “made in Brazil” where she grew up and studied design and architecture. Currently, she lives in California with an eccentric dog named Cierra and a very supportive husband.

DrikaB: “My designs are inspired by unexpected color and texture combination and my primary goal is to keep making things that are practical and fun”. Click here to visit her Etsy shop. The price for a large bag ranges between $68 – $98.

abigail ahern

These are images of Abigail Ahern’s home in the UK, which I found on Design*Sponge. Abigail is a British stylist and interior designer which is pretty obvious when you see her gorgeous home. I like her style of mixing eclectic furniture and accessories with very modern pieces. I am sure that you would like to know where the woolen bed spread in the picture above is from: the throw comes from Nicole Farhi in London.

Isn’t that one gorgeous chandelier?!

I love the Scandia chair (above) and I am planning to have a similar one in our new house. I already have the hand-carved wooden stool/table.

The book case wallpaper can be bought at Abigail’s shop Atelier Abigail.

The Neo-Baroque inspired chandelier can also be purchased from Atelier Abigail. It is suitable for holding taper candles or t-lights.

vintage wallpaper

I have earlier posted about vintage wallpaper. You can find these posts here and here. Another great source for vintage wallpaper, if you are living in The Netherlands, is De Bonte Kamer. They also have a great vintage furniture collection.

more bathroom inspiration

It is time for more bathroom inspiration! We have taken today off to visit bathrooms showrooms. We are thinking of getting the Duravit Starck 1 toilet and the bathtub from the Starck 2 line for our new house. The taps will be from Vola, if we can afford them.. I love the white wooden floor in the photo above but unfortunately I don’t think this is very practical for a bathroom.

A contemporary white bath on wooden feet is a modern take on the freestanding bath. This bath is from Villeroy & Boch, with taps from Hansgrohe.

This eclectic bathroom has been made simple by combining the different styles of furniture with white walls and white painted floor boards. The bath is from the Bathroom Discount Centre in the UK and the stool is from Ikea.

This pewter bateau bath above is from Barber Wilsons and the rug is from The Rug Company. I posted about this rug earlier this week.

riad sharai in marrakech

Moroccan riads are always a great source of inspiration. Ryad Sharai is one of the biggest riads in Marrakech. It is hidden behind a weather-beaten door in a narrow street in the Bab Tharzout quarter.

The colors of the room in the photos above are stunning!

The house has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms.

All the bedrooms are situated around the patio and the pool.

Aren’t the hand-made wooden bathroom doors beautiful?!

A riad is a house with a patio and this gorgeous riad has quite a large patio.

Behind the labyrinth of rooms there is a staircase leading to the terraces. From there you have a magnificent view of the city and the Atlas mountains. The cosy cushions make this place very inviting!

The patio is a great place to relax after a long, hot day of sightseeing and shopping.

Or perhaps you prefer a jump in the pool?

angora grey

This piece, from Etsy seller Ecological Artist, hangs beautifully, and can be hung as a wall hanging, and used, as desired as a wearable art piece as well. It is woven on an 8 harness loom. The warp (vertical threads) are made of vegan silk, collected from the wild in India. The entire piece took approximately 6 months to create (spinning and weaving), and is a culmination of global and local sustainable human/nature relationships.

droog design

Last week I posted about this house that is decorated with furniture and accessories from Dutch label Droog Design. Here are some of the Droog items that can be found in this home. The image above shows the milk bottle lamp designed by Tejo Remy.

Clockwise, starting at the upper left corner: the Rag chair from Tejo Remy, the 85 Lamps is designed by Rody Graumans, the Chest of drawers is also from Tejo Remy, the Hare mat is designed by Ed Annink, Chris Kabel’s Shady Lace parasol, pottery Red revisited is from Bas Warmoeskerken,

sustainable design by wemade

WeMade is a project launched by Dutch designers Rixt Reitsma and Lidewij Spitshuis. Lidewij is a Design Academy graduate, Rixt studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Together they went to Java, Indonesia, to help local crafters developing a series of fashion and interior accessories. The goal of the project was to give financial support to people living in an area that was hit by an earthquake. The result is beautiful line of products, inspired by the local crafters, that are suitable for the Western market. The vases in the photo above are made of pressed bamboo and have a colour accent of rajut (a kind of Indonesian crochet). You can purchase these gorgeous vases here.

Soupper (above) is a soup set for four. The perforated pattern on the wooden plate continues smoothly in the ceramic bowls. However, there is a contrast in material.

Cocups (aove) is a series of six palmwood cups with a range of coloring: a gradient from white to blue.

Roster (above) is a series of pressed bamboo plates. The carved or batik pattern is inspired by ventilation stones which are seen a lot in Indonesian houses.

Constructors (above) is a series of ceramic vases. The little blue detail, made from coconut shell, refers to the colonial history of The Netherlands. Its shape is inspired by the Dutch tiles you still can find in the palace of the Sultan in Yogyakarta.
