lisa perry’s ny loft

Fashion designer Lisa Perry is known for her bright colored and retro style fashion and accessories. You can see this signature style also in the interior design of her apartment in New York.

This loft is a mix of sixties fashion with Pop Art and vintage furniture. It is obvious that Lisa Perry is a Pop Art collector!

I love the artwork in this apartment and isn’t that large rug stunning?

This gorgeous loft has been featured in New York Apartments.

wooden bowls & utensils by gary allson

Gary Allson’s work is inspired by observations and insights into daily living. His innovation is to generate solutions that are born out of a particular place. The materials and techniques used to create work are intentionally kept simple in order to maintain the emphasis on the idea.

His individually hand made wooden bowls, plates and kitchen utensils are suitable for both functional and ornamental use. The work is made in Cornwall, UK, from locally sourced sustainable timber: oak, beech, cherry and ash. Using traditional and digital techniques the work focuses on elemental forms with natural surface finishes and a contemporary identity. The bowls in the top image are made from burnt oak, round cedar, oak and walnut. The kitchen and garden tongs (above) are from burnt oak, beech and cedar. Visit Gary’s website for more information and to see more of this work.

life style fair in amsterdam

Unfortunately I could not visit the Woonbeurs in Amsterdam this year due to a very busy calendar. This lifestyle fair is held yearly and is always a great source of (interior) inspiration. Luckily I found some images of this year’s event at she.likes.cute.

All the major Dutch interior magazines were present with an entire decorated ‘inspiration house’ in which they showed the latest interior design trends. My favorite magazine VT Wonen decorated their house in neutral, light colors. Natural materials such as wood, wool and felt were used. This gave a warm and inviting feel to the house. The knitted rug in the image above is from Christien Meindertsma.

A colourful installation made from various objects.

The electronic fire place is designed by Piet Hein Eek.

I love this combination of bright white and wood.

Delft’s Blue inspired designs are big trend.

ferm living at le souk

I am very happy that the beautiful products of Ferm LIVING are now available at Le Souk! Ferm LIVING is a Danish company which aims at designing and manufacturing graphic lifestyle products. “Our products are intended for people who are interested in design and who are not afraid to be a bit bold when they decorate their homes,” says designer and manager, Trine Andersen. The inspiration comes from many different things: fashion, nature, architecture, flea markets, trips around the world, even old needlework books. Trine has an eye for taking things like retro designs and elements from nature and reinterpreting them in a way that makes them clean and modern.

On of my favorite items is the adorable Lovebirds wallsticker (top image, right). There is also a pillow available in the same beautiful print. Ferm LIVING also has a wallpaper collection with the most gorgeous prints. Wilderness and Little Leaves (top image – left) are both inspired by the Scandinavian nature. Pillows Tasette and Wilderness complement the wallpaper perfectly. Also ferm LIVING’s kids collection (image above) is worth to be mentioned. Aren’t those Dotty pillows with tree print cute?! The Rush hour pillow with car print is perfect for a boy’s room. And the Bird Tree Wall Sticker will brighten up any room!

copenhagen apartment

This beautiful apartment is located in Copenhagen, Denmark. I have seen it before in a magazine and believe that one of the owners designs for Danish label Vipp. In the bathroom (image below) a Vipp waste bin is shown.

I love the mixture of vintage Scandinavian design and contemporary art and furniture. Because of the white walls and floors the focus is on the beautiful furniture and art work.

You can see that the owners belief in ‘less is more’. Still, the apartment is warm and inviting.

upper east side townhouse in ny

I’m glad that you like my post about that gorgeous renovated farm in France. And you are all right: that floor with the pebbles is gorgeous! Today another post about a house with a beautiful floor but this time the floor is from wood.

This townhouse on the Upper East side of NY has been decorated minimalisticly but it still has a warm feel to it.

I love the Moroccan rugs, combined with the old wooden floor.

beautiful birdhouses

It is the time of year to feed the birds again. Here are some beautiful bird houses & feeders that I found on the web. The nesting bird box (top left) designed by Eva Solo is made of white-glazed terra cotta and black plastic, which protects the little home from wind and rain. The bird feeder at the right is also from Eva Solo. Birdhouse ROHBAU (second row), designed by Torsten Klocke, is straight, modern design that decorates the garden. But this birdhouse made out of concrete does not only serve beautification – the concrete box protects its inhabitants against wind, weather and enemies. Contrary to simple fat balls, VOGELIMBISS (third row) makes for a pretty sight even without feathered visitors. The simple feeding ground out of an organic china capsule has two notches, is easy to fill, and keeps the feed dry and clean. This cute bird feeder is designed by Yvonne Penter. Both Rohbau and Vogelimbiss are available from Das Rote Paket, a great webshop that is based in Germany but ships worldwide.

renovated old farm in france

This medieval farmhouse stand in Perigord, which is in the Dordogne region in France. The old farm building is renovated in a authentic way and two new, wooden pavilions are built in the garden.

The kitchen (image above and below) is rustic and inviting. The Aga cooker (top image) fits perfectly in this space.

The owners have succeeded in modernising the building, by adding modern comforts such as central heating, but at the same time keeping the authentic charm of the building.

The modern painting does not look out of place at all.

Aren’t those beamed ceilings stunning?

A wooden wall divides the bedroom and bathroom.

Behind the wooden wall there is a gorgeous, freestanding bathtub.
