kitchen inspiration

We are looking for a kitchen for our new house and I am searching the net for inspiration. We have specific ideas about our dream kitchen: we love natural materials (wooden cabinets) and the kitchen should have rustic and modern feel. Does anybody has advice/tips about kitchen builders / designers in The Netherlands?

Here are some images of kitchens that I like and that I will use to create our kitchen.

More kitchen inspiration to come in the next days! By the way, I would love to hear how your dream kitchen would like. Images are very welcome!

modern swimming complex les bains des docks

This modern aquatic complex Les Bains des Docks, recently opened in Le Havre, France, is designed by Jean Nouvel. Les Bains des Docks is a revitalisation project lead by the city in order to create together with a new shopping centre a unique destination in the long term.

The 5,000-square-meter complex, inspired by the Roman thermal baths, offers a beautiful atmosphere of tranquility with the fantastic play of natural light soothing the eyes, the masterful acoustics pleasing the ears, and the pools and treatment areas taking care of the rest of the body. Although the main “color” of the complex is white, each section’s distinct atmosphere and hue is created by flowing water curtains, color walls, and various textures and surface treatments. Each pool is designed, shaped and lit to create a unique “private space” for its specific users. These seemingly enclosed areas help minimize echoing and sound carriage – an annoying aspect of most aquatic centers — as do the varying-height floors and ceilings, and the acoustic false ceilings. Saunas, a hammam, cold and hot baths, and a spa area with hydro-massage and aqua gym areas complete the atmosphere of pampering and care.

more interior inspiration from the uk

Today another wonderful London home! This pretty house has a large kitchen with daylight coming through the window in the roof.

I love the use of greys and browns that have been used through the entire house. Gorgeous bedroom!

minimalistic coat rack by sebastian schönheit

I received an email from Sebastian Schönheit, a student at the Bauhaus University Weimar, Germany. Sebastian has designed this beautiful coat rack which is reduced in form and shape, standing nonchalantly on two feet to let it lean against a wall. The mouldings at the bar’s ends offer plenty of possibilities to store hats, scarfs and coats. Simple but gorgeous!

white danish home with colorful accents

As I am searching for a kitchen for our new house I am very much into kitchens these days. I like the kitchen in this Danish home. But as our floors will be white we are looking for the same kind of kitchen but then with wooden cabinets and a white top.

Not only the kitchen is beautiful but the whole house is stunning. It has that Scandinavian vibe and I love the combination of white & wood with colorful accents. More kitchen inspiration to come next week!

shades of blue in paola navone’s milan home

In an earlier post you could see Paola Navone’s home in Greece, where white was the dominant ‘color’. For her home in Milan, Italy, Paola has chosen blue as the main color for her home. Most furniture and accessories have been brought from Paola’s many travels.

grey, white & silver in vt wonen

I love the styling of this article that appeared in n this month’s issue of Dutch interior magazine VT Wonen. The combination of white, grey and silver is gorgeous. I was happy to see that some of the products featured in the article are also available at Le Souk. For example the white leather Moroccan poof with embroidery, the leather poof in silver, and the silver Morocan tray.

This lovely image is part of a story that stylist Paul Lowe (aka Sweet Paul) created for Country Living. The story called “A way with words” is about using the written word in crafts and will appear in Septembers issue of Country Living. The Photographer is Ellen Silverman.

interior inspiration

While searching for kitchen inspiration for our home, I stumbled on these images. I love the spacious kitchen and that gorgeous Aga cooker!

But the kitchen isn’t the only beautiful space in the house. All the other rooms are beautifully decorated as well. Aren’t those black & white tiles in the hallway lovely?

I also like bedroom with a beautiful wooden bed on the white floors.

principessa day bed by doshi & levien

Not to long ago I posted about Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien’s My Beautiful Backside Sofa. Daybed Principessa (image above) is also part of this collection that Doshi & Levien designed for Moroso. This beautiful day bed is consisting of many thin mattress layers in gipsy colours, referencing the Hans Christian Anderson tale of Princess and the Pea. The top most layer of our daybed displays a graphic composition of objects scattered as if our princess is preparing for a night out. This eclectic array of objects ranging from the glamorous to plain utilitarian, including a braun hairdryer, an umbrella, a necklace, a cocktail glass and many others, are woven into a red and gold jacquard fabric.
