I hope you have enjoyed the kitchen and bathroom series!

tibet

My friend Pia is a talented stylist and she has inspiring blog. Today I would like to ask you to visit her blog and read her posts about Tibet and the beautiful people living in this country. It is very important to keep Tibet in the spotlight and I very much appreciate Pia’s effort. Perhaps you read Pia’s posts and add a comment as your support (and pass it on!). You can also sign this petition to support the Dalai Lama. Thank you so much..

bathroom inspiration

Last week was all about kitchens, the next days will be about bathrooms. Today I start with these beautiful images from Dutch photographer Rene Mesman.

wis design

Last year I wrote about the Cloud Chair from WIS. But this Swedish design duo has created more beautiful things that are certainly worth showing.

For example Decades (top image). This chest of drawers is made out of discarded drawers, found and rescued at flea markets. A mix of different styles from earlier decades, with woods and knobs of various kinds, in a single piece of furniture. The old drawers are enhanced by the new frame in white lacquered MDF. Or the playful Twine Table (second image) which is a set of tables inspired by one of the oldest ways of attaching one object to another – with a needle and thread. The wire is twined through the table top, and becomes legs as well as upholding construction. Visit WIS’ website for more information and design.

pile of books table

I can’t remember where I found it but I love this side table named Pile of Books. I can’t tell you much about it except that it is designed by Josefin Hellström-Olsson from Sweden.

more kitchens

Some more kitchens! These images are from the portfolio of photographer Jake Fitzjones. I myself love that kitchen in the image above. The design is simple but the kitchen looks very cosy! I have seen it before and if I am right this house is from a Dutch family living on the island of Ibiza.

nervous system jewellery

Nervous System is a collaboration between Jessica Eve Rosenkrantz and Jesse Louis-Rosenberg. Jesse and Jessica met in 2004 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where Jessica was studying Architecture and Biology and Jesse was studying Mathematics and Computer Science. Together they create experimental jewelry, combining nontraditional materials like silicone rubber and stainless steel with rapid prototyping methods. They find inspiration in complex patterns generated by computation and nature. Nervous System also has an Etsy store when you buy their beautiful and highly original jewellery.

kitchens by kate hume

These gorgeous kitchens are designed by Kate Hume. This interior designer is orginally from the UK but is now living and working in Amsterdam.

Since 1998 Kate and her husband Frans van der Heyden have been collaborating on their furniture design company, Birdman Furniture – a chic, simple and innovative collection that now sells world-wide. Their gorgeous furniture pieces – I especially love their tables – are shown in the images above.

module kitchen by drift

The Module Kitchen from Dutch label Drift is for people who enjoy the basic necessities in life. Each kitchen function is a separate module, so you can decide for yourself how to build your own kitchen. The different modules can be placed in may different ways, against a wall or free in a space, even outside. And you can change the setup all the time, because they are not unmovable build into a house. If you move to a new place, the kitchen can come with you!

Drift was founded in the summer of 2006, by Ralph Nauta and Lonneke Gordijn, both graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2005. Drift: “Our aim is to make original and passionate design out of high quality materials, using the newest techniques. We aspire to create timeless design aside from fashion and trends, but full of energy, fantasy and interaction. Main inspirations are nature and science fiction. We are idealistic but (mostly) realistic”. Visit their website to see their other designs.
