Rörstrand from Sweden is the second oldest porcelain manufacturer in Europe and has been producing contemporary porcelain products since 1726. Searching on Ebay, you can find some great vintage Rörstrand pieces. But they also have great contemporary designs, like for instance these colorful mugs designed by Swedish designer Hanna Werning. The decoration on the mugs, named Hanna, is hand-applied and comes in black, green, blue, pink and yellow colourways.
I am always fascinated by where creative people get their inspiration from. This is what Hanna says about her inspiration source for these mugs: “It was a chest of drawers in my childhood home that inspired this design. My mother went on a study trip to Russia at the end of 1970s and brought some souvenirs back home with her. I remember playing with them throughout the whole of my childhood. It was from this that I got the idea for Hanna (the mugs).”

I don’t post about jewellery vert often but when I saw this Polaroid charm necklace I had share it with you. Celebrity Polaroid photographer Jeremy Kost of RoidRage collaborated with Rusty Pistachio’s PNUT Jewelry to create this limited-edition sterling silver Polaroid camera charm necklace. Very cute!

Most people are acquainted with the French wine glasses originally from the Picardy region. These glasses are used to serve wine as well as water. The French Carafe from Royal VKB can be used with different sized glasses. Carrying both the full carafe and the glasses is very convenient as the glasses can be stacked in the neck so glasses and carafe can be transported with only one hand. The French carafe is available here and here.
Royal VKB is a Dutch company that offers innovative, beautifully designed products that are both smart and beautiful to use. I will post more about their great collection later this week.

The yellow trend mixes really well with the mid-century modern vintage trend. In these photo collages I have combined pieces of vintage Scandinavian furniture with yellow furniture and accessories. I personally love the warm combination of yellow with dark wood furniture.

String is a shelving system from Sweden. This practical system, designed by Nils Strinning, is lightweight, yet stable. The side panels are simple to mount and the shelves are easy to move around. You can combine shelves of different depths in the same unit and the frame functions as a book-end. When you need more shelf space, you can simply add more units. It is the framing that gives String its discreet but distinctive character: a refined ladder climbing up the wall.
All these characteristics, and the fact that it is timeless, contributed to the success of the design since the introduction in 1949. Click here to find a list of world-wide retailers.
After my hosting service Dreamhost decided to transfer the style files to a different server in order to make their hosting experience more pleasant (these are their own words!) my site was down for over 24 hours. They sure have a strange definition of the word pleasant. I am very sorry if you were not able to access the style files but I will try to make it up to you this weekend with some great posts.
By the way, since this is not my first encounter with the ‘pleasant’ service of Dreamhost, I would not recommend this hosting company to anyone.
